Gwen Stefani’s Harajuku hairstyle

Gwen Stefani

Gwen Stefani at the 2004 MTV Music Video Awards while still in her Harajuku stages wearing a Harajuku Asian inspired hairstyle with flowers. While cute I am sure her kids will look back on this thinking its silly but Gwen Stefani manages to work just about anything outrageous hair or clothing wise and look awesome doing it too.

Gwen Stefani at the N.Y. Premiere "Shine A Light"

Gwen Stefani Everyday Hairstyle

At a formal gathering, Gwen Stefani chooses to wear a simplistic updo that is worn by millions for an everyday look.  Hair is simply pulled up, twisted and fastened, while the sides and front have a few bent and crimped tendrils.

Gwen Stefani at the 4th Annual "Black Ball" Concert Benefiting "Keep a Child Alive"

Gwen Stefani Hairstyle

We call it strange when people wear unusual hairstyles, yet what do we respond when Gwen Stefani wears an ordinary 'do?  This medium length has been dried with lift and large curls that appear to have been implemented from a "roller set" as they produce just this type of haphazard bends in different directions unless smoothed differently.

Gwen Stefani Taking a Stroll in SOHO in New York City

Gwen Stefani Hairstyle

Sometimes when I look at Gwen Stefani, I think of little girls who love to play dress up.  Many celebrities are caught out shopping, etc. with hair and dress just as casual as you and I wear.  Could it be that gals like Gwen are doing nothing more than fulfilling those dreams of 'dress-up' when they design their hairstyles in wedding day fashion each time they hit the stage or red carpet?

Gwen Stefani on NBC's Ellen Degeneres Show

Gwen Stefani Hairstyle

'High and tight' isn't just for guys when it comes to some of the hairstyles that Gwen Stefani likes to wear.   This close to the scalp look on the sides really slims the face while the very teased, "bouffant" look on top will make your face appear longer.

Gwen Stefani Hairstyle

Gwen Stefani loves to make a fashion statement and she often does so with her hairstyles.  Here, she has her hair pulled back, ponytail style that has had sections done in large, loose curls, while her bangs were dramatically sectioned off, combed to the side and done in one giant lock.

Gwen Stefani Graces Vanity Fair Carpet

Gwen Stefani hairstyle

Gwen Stefani wearing a simple, basic look for her night out at the Oscars. She wears crazy styles casually and now a conservative one formally.  All hair is fastened back with the exception of the dense, chunky side-swept bangs all held firmly in place with product.

Gwen Stefani at the TRJ Awards in France

Gwen Stefani at TRJ Awards in France

Rarely do we see a hairstyle like this on Gwen Stefani.  Usually she likes a style that carries more of an impact by utilizing the element of surprise.  An extreme left part gives way to straight, coarse bangs.  These are quite a contrast to the softer curls on the sides and ends, which seem to have been applied randomly giving them a more natural look.

Leave it to Gwen Stefani

Gwen Stefani

picture

Gwen Stefani made her entrance to the AMA with this sleek, smooth look.  Perfectly pressed hair slightly turned under, at this length just qualifies as a bob style.  The most unique thing about this look for today's styles would be the heavy, brow-length bangs.  Almost obsolete, this fringe is thick.  Quite a contrast from the trend of long, sweeping strands or those that are non-existent anymore.

The Updo of Who?

picture

New parents, Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani, hit the red carpet last Wednesday on a night out in London.  Gwen seems to be letting her hair grow and is wearing it as platinum as ever.   This formal style appears old-fashioned and though a compliment to the dress she is wearing, it is not the fashion usually favored by Ms. Stefani.  The conservative updo is a simple fashion statement to be mimicked by shy women everywhere.
